No Drill Hanging: 8 Easy Methods for Your Home
Can we all agree that patching holes from screws and anchors is not the most enjoyable thing in the world?
Also, the fact that the process is pretty timely. Considering it needs to be done in steps, followed by paint that’s probably dried out in a can lost in your garage at this point….
When my family and I moved to our new home I was super vigilant when hanging things on our walls. I explored many options for hanging items in our home that would result in as little work as possible if we ever wanted to change something. I also wanted to preserve no holes in our drywall as best as I could since we were moving into a new build home.
Here are some of my FAVORITE no drill hanging methods that either created a hole as small as a tack or none at all!
1. Double Headed Picture Hanging Nails
When I came across these my jaw dropped. I’m not sure why I just recently discovered these, but I’m obsessed! This past Christmas I had a couple of holiday signs to hang. These were seriously the most genius concept and it was so easy to fill the holes afterwards. They act as a tack, but you can hang the frame onto it snugly as if it were a screw. They won’t hold a lot of weight. But, for something like a light weight picture frame with standard hooks on the back for hanging, this is perfect! They also come in gold and bronze if you’re sticking to a specific aesthetic.
2. Adhesive Wood Peg Hooks
These are my go to hooks in my kids’ rooms. I love using them in their closets to hang back packs, robes, and jackets to keep it accessible to them. I also have one hanging as a designated spot for my son’s hanging sports medals. I’ve been using these for several years. I think they’re so cute and they have never fallen off from the wall. Admittedly, there are times the backpacks are kinda heavy to hang, but they hold up and don’t fall off!
3. Claw Hooks
I discovered these hooks while searching for something hold our bathroom mirrors. I really wanted to avoid the need for putting anchors into the walls. I was really hesitant to go with something that relied solely on adhesive since our mirrors are a little heavier. I tried out these and they were *chefs kiss*. They were so incredibly easy to hang and you don’t need any tools. Just use your fingers to push them into the drywall. Adhesive guides are also included. This helps to make sure whatever you’re hanging is leveled before committing by pushing them into the wall. These guys are holding every bathroom mirror in our house!
4. Command Picture Hanging Strips
I used these to hang our frames for our gallery wall in our living room. While they’re super easy to use, it probably wasn’t the best choice for a perfectly aligned gallery wall. I failed to realize that when you push the frame into the hanging strip and the velcro clicks together; it slightly alters the placement of the frame. Overall, I am very happy with them for their purpose of keeping my accent wall free from holes. No frames have budged and I still have the flexibility to adjust their placement.
5. Suction Cup Hook
This hook is designed to suction onto glass or tile. We use ours on our glass shower wall to hang our towels conveniently next to the shower door. The towel bar in our home is further than I would like from our shower door. So this was a great alternative. I also like the look of it better. Looks tidier in my opinion!
Make sure to clean the spot you want to put it with rubbing alcohol prior to adhering it. Also, clean the gripper/suction part on the hook as well. This will ensure it doesn’t fall down and has a nice strong hold.
6. Mini Command Hooks
My go to hook for hanging my daily wear necklace right inside of my bathroom cabinet door. It is very small making it less noticeable and holds .5 lbs. It’s perfect for keeping my jewelry organized and easily accessible every morning/night. These hooks are also great for hanging Christmas lights or small banners.
7. Command Broom + Mop Gripper
Easy and simple way to organize your brooms, Swiffers, etc. No tools required to hang. These grippers help to keep your brooms off the ground, avoid them falling all over and tidies up the area.
8. Wood Push Pins
Really cute way to hang small items. This is your traditional tack while keeping it aesthetic. This is my go to method if it is something light enough to where I can utilize this this option.
